Mark your calendars: The Full Flower Moon in Scorpio arrives on May 1st, offering us a glimmer of hope in troubling times. This lunation is a micromoon, which means the earth and moon are farther apart than usual. The moon will appear to be smaller, amongst the budding flowers, but that doesn’t mean the effects are minimal — the opposite is true.
The Full Moon in Scorpio brings our deepest sentiments to the forefront of our hearts, allowing us to deal with personal matters head-on. We want to heal the parts of ourselves that are repressed. The secrets we’ve been hiding will come to light, urging us to confront the revelations and hard realities. Luckily, we will have the emotional bandwidth to do so.
Remember the chaotic Aries stellium (a cluster of planets in the same sign) we were dealing with during the New Moon in Aries on April 17th? Well, some of the planets are still in play: Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Neptune, as well as the centaur/comet Chiron, the asteroids Pallas and Eris are still in Aries. The confusing and immense feelings are pushing us to assert ourselves (Mercury, Mars, and Saturn), but once we do, the results will bring more uncertainty than before (Neptune). Chiron and Eris offer us the chance to mend our wounds through unique endeavors. Alternative modalities are more important than ever to take on because they’ll raise our consciousness, deepen our knowledge, and cultivate our soulfulness. Pallas is fighting the good fight against those who aim to bring us down.
Astronomically, Black Moon Lilith is the lunar apogee [the point in an orbit farthest from earth] that astrologically symbolizes our “feral” and “untamable” energy. For those who do not know, Lilith was Adam’s first wife, before Eve, created at the same time, making them equals. As lore tells us, Adam didn’t like that she refused to “lie underneath him” during sex, so she banished him. As a result, she was demonized. The reason Black Moon Lilith, which is in Sagittarius, is vital is the closeness to aspecting Mars. This gives us the desire to break free and to live out our passions. We aren’t staying subservient — instead, we are embracing our power.
The asteroid Juno, in Aquarius, squares the sun in Taurus and the moon in Scorpio. Juno, who is Jupiter’s wife, is a protective goddess. However, she often got jealous of Jupiter’s infidelities and took vengeance. (Personally, my interpretation of Juno reflects someone patient until they’re not. I see Juno as someone who wants acknowledgment and fairness in partnerships.) Since Juno is activating the Full Moon, it allows us to notice who values us (and vice versa) — also helping us cultivate better dynamics with ourselves and others. As you now know, there is a lot of work to do under the Flower Moon.
Meditate on the Death tarot card, which correlates to the zodiac sign Scorpio. Don’t worry, the card does not represent literal “death,” rather a shift in goals, mindsets, relationships, and career. The personification shows that one door closes and another opens, allowing us to move forward in a different direction that speaks to our spiritual path. It gives us the strength to make necessary changes and advances. Emotionally and mentally, we are invincible. Nothing can shake us. As long as we move forward, we’ll be able to grow beyond our limits. Keeping this card as a screensaver or background on our phones is a manifestation hack that will ease our hesitancy to develop and transcend.
