In the event of an emergency, such as a power outage, pin, or fire, the garage door in your house may fail to operate or operate way too slowly to prevent any injury. This wikiHow will show you how to release a garage door in the event of an emergency.<ref>http://bit.ly/2DUIMxZ>
== Steps ==
#Pull the red lever. This lever is hung on a string from the track of the garage door. When closed, the lever is located next to the door. When open, the lever is located next to the door opener. This will release the garage door from the opener.
#Pull the lever away from the door. This will roll the door up. This will also release any pressure on any objects or people pinned underneath the garage door.
#Pull until the door is fully open. When the door is fully open, the lever will not move any further and the garage door will not fall down on anyone. You can now move items through the door safely.
#Remember to close the door. Make sure that you reenter the garage and close the lever again by following these steps in reverse. Instead of pulling away from the door, pull toward it. This will close the garage door and prevent intruders from entering your garage.
== Tips ==
*You can reengage the garage door by using the door opener. It may take a few presses.
== Warnings ==
*Get medical help or [[Call Emergency Services|contact emergency services]] if someone is or was pinned underneath the garage door. They will need medical attention for crush injuries.
