All The Celebrities Fighting For Joe Biden To Become Our Next President

After Bernie Sanders swept the popular vote in the first three voting contests of the 2020 Democratic primary, former Vice President Joe Biden snagged a coveted victory in the South Carolina primary on February 29.

The win has all but cemented Biden as the centrist alternative to Sanders’ left-wing political agenda heading into the Super Tuesday voting blitz, when voters will head to the polls in 14 states and one U.S. territory to help determine who will square off against incumbent President Donald Trump in November.

As the polls currently stand, Biden still trails Sanders nationally by a spread of roughly 8.5 points, but that hasn’t stopped former South Bend, Indiana, mayor Pete Buttigieg and Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, who both recently suspended their own campaigns for the Democratic nomination, from throwing their weight behind the former Veep. Both Klobuchar and Buttigieg are expected to endorse Biden as the 2020 nominee for the Democratic party following their ended bids.

As Biden and Sanders prepare to go head to head in a Super Tuesday showdown, here are six celebrities that have also declared themselves #TeamJoe.

Cher

Do you believe in life after Iowa and New Hampshire? When it came to Biden’s campaign, flagging after early losses in the two first-in-the-nation primaries, Cher did. The vocal powerhouse took to Twitter days ahead of the Nevada primary to encourage the former VP to keep fighting, despite finishing fourth and fifth place in the previous two voting contests. Tom Hanks

Although Hanks has previously flirted with the idea of a presidential run of his own, he seems more content to align himself with more seasoned politicians in 2020. According to FEC filing records, Hanks and his wife, actress Rita Wilson, have both donated to Biden’s campaign. Hanks has not spoken directly about his donation to the Biden campaign, though ahead of the primary races, he stated that "anybody can become president."Photo: GP Images/Getty Images for TIFF.

Michelle Kwan

Two-time Olympic medalist Michelle Kwan doesn’t just support Joe Biden’s campaign —she works for it. As Biden’s surrogate director, Kwan is responsible for coordinating rallies and events for the candidate and lining up speakers to endorse his policy agenda. “Ultimately, I believe that the Vice President is the ideal candidate to unify our country with his experience, knowledge and track record of fighting for Americans," Kwan wrote in an Instagram caption announcing the role.Photo: Amanda Edwards/Getty Images.

Alec Baldwin

Baldwin has reprised his role as President Trump on Saturday Night Live more times than one can reliably count, but when it comes to his own pick for the presidency, Baldwin recently declared on The View that his personal favorite “is probably Biden only so far as how he polls across different groups of people."

"My concern about Biden is, is he our Reagan?” Baldwin continued. “Is he the Democratic Ronald Reagan?"Photo: Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images for Comedy Central.

Jane Lynch

The former Glee star recently landed in hot water for a tweet in which she suggested that anti-billionaire rhetoric was part of the class war, so it comes as no surprise that she’s not lining up to support the candidate that’s pledged to take the millionaires and billionaires to task. Lynch posted on Twitter to announce her support of (and donation to) Biden's campaign, stating "He’s a good and decent man and will restore dignity to the office. He’ll be a president we can be proud of and have faith in. Let’s all get behind Joe!"Photo: Emma McIntyre/Getty Images for Turner.

George R. R. Martin

The A Song of Ice and Fire author wrote on his blog back in May 2019 that he was “pleased” to see Biden announce his candidacy, and that he thought the former senator best fulfilled his two main criteria for the presidency: someone who could beat Trump, and someone who would “actually be a good/great president.”

“There are a lot of good Democrats running, maybe too many, and I’d probably vote for any one of them over the present blot upon the Oval Office,” Martin conceded.Photo: Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic.

Vivica A. Fox

According to Fox, President Barack Obama’s former second in command has all the qualities she’d like to see in a future president. “He’s got ‘that thing,’” Fox previously told People. “He has that history, and he’s been there.”Photo: Paul Archuleta/Getty Images.
